Coran Ober was founded in the 1960s by brothers-in-law, Samuel Coran and Ralph
Ober.

Samuel brought a simple mantra to the firm: “Do something. Anything.”

Ralph, an educator and a journalist, in addition to an attorney, Ralph edified the practice
with ethical and intellectual rigor. Both were dedicated to building a client centered
practice ground in action, integrity, and legal rigor.

This solid foundation was carried forward by Simeon Soterakis who built a strong
reputation representing independent supermarket owners throughout New York City.
He pioneered novel applications of Article 71 of the NY Civil Practice Law, Article 9 of
the Uniform Commercial Code and the common law plenary remedy of replevin to
effectively enforce the rights of commercial creditors.

Simeon’s clients didn’t just retain a superior attorney — they gained a trusted advisor.
